 | Game Serials |  | | | | | One of the problems faced by computer game developers are Game Serials.
Sharing Game Serials with your friends or getting Game Serials from
the internet may seem harmless. However, it hurts game developers, and especially hurts
developers of downloadable games.
One of the most common arguments used by people who use Game Serials
is some kind of "robin hood" logic - they are stealing $20 from a
big, bad, faceless corporation. This kind of thought doesn't change the fact that
Game Serials are illegal, but may provide some confort to the person
doing it.
But the truth is, most computer game development company are often 2 or 3 young guys that
got together to make the games they'd always loved to play - not big, bad, faceless corporations
(for example, read our history).
They struggle to make a meager living off their games. Using Game Serials
instead of paying just $19.95 to buy a computer game actually hurts these little
guys a lot.
This is even worse when it comes to Mac games. For most downloadable games
developers, a big part of their sales come from the sale of Windows games.
However, many of them also make the effort to release Mac games, often just
because they love their Macintosh computers and feel proud to provide
their games for Mac. The effect of using Game Serials for Mac means
that even less developers will release their games for Mac, which many Mac game
players complain about.
The bottom line is that using Game Serials hurts the little guys
like you and us.
